The stairs lead from the Entry Hall upstairs.  The Doug Fir timberframe stairs have the treads let-in to the stringers and have six coats of Biosheild floor resin sealer.  The railings are reclaimed oak and the ballisters are twisted black metal.

This photo shows the stairs with the upstairs hall at the top.

This photo was taken part way up the stairs.  The wood siding is alternating 1x4 and 1x6 local pine tongue and groove. The ceiling of the upstairs hall has two sun tube sky lights which provide wonderful ambient light.

This photo was taken looking down from halfway up the stairs.  The front door was built in Ridgway by local artisan and cabinet maker, Adam Johnson, in his Wood Heart workshop; it has a "speakeasy" window cutout with a small shutter.  The windows have sill extensions, the benchtops are hinged and made of hickory.  The floor is scored and grouted concrete with paint, stain, sealer and then polished.  The slab is 9-10" thick in order to act as a heat sink for the infloor solar heating system.

This shows the Upstairs Hall.  The first door on the right is the Upstairs Bathroom the next door leads to the Mechanical Room, Laundry and Storage, the open door leads to the Bonus Room and on the left is the Upstairs Bedroom.

This shows the stair lighting and stairwell, on the left is the Bonus Room.  Trim is custom Doug Fir throughout which matches the timberframe and stairs.  The vertical corner trim is black metal which matches many of the light fixtures as well as the stair ballisters.

This shows the ceiling of the Upstairs Hall which is tongue and groove pine with two sun tubes for ambient lighting. The open door to the left leads to the Mechanical Room, Laundry and Storage.

This is the laundry area with oak upper cabinets in place, the washer connections, and dryer wired for both electrical 220 volts and gas with a vent in place.  The tile floor is sloped to a floor drain throughout the entire room with caulked waterproof baseboard.

The Mechanical area has a high efficiency boiler and storage tank for domestic hot water and back up hydronic heating.  The solar system heats through the in-floor tubing which has pumps for the solar panels and different zones.  Both upstairs and downstairs have infloor heat. In the background one can see the large storage area.

The storage area, the only area in the house with carpet, has a light and a high ceiling.  This area is in the back of the Mechanical Room.

This is another view of the heating system.

This shows the northwest corner of the Bonus Room.  The room is very well lit with many wndows facing east, north and west.  The timberframe, private, exterior stairs can be seen through the left window.

The timberframe structure is visible out the west windows.  This is an extremely large, light room with a private exterior entrance.  This room has phone, ethernet and coax wired to several locations as well.

This was taken from the far corner of the Bonus Room, there is recessed lighting as well as a central light. The lighting plan was done with consulting from Silver Mountain Wireworks.  This room would make a great office space with the private entrance.

This is the view out the Bonus Room door into the Upstair Hall, the Master Bedroom is opposite, the Upstairs Bathroom is on the left.

This is the Upstairs Bathroom.  There is a composite countertop with sink, slate floor and slate bath/shower surround.  The cabinat matches the rustic hickory in the office and kitchen.

This shows the Upstairs Bathroom sink, slate tile and bamboo mirror, as well as the Upstairs Hall and bamboo floor.  Fixtures are by Moen.

Another view of the Upstairs Bathroom.  There is a curved shower curtain rod and ambient light from the window. The toilet is by Kohler.

The Upstairs Bedroom is directly across the hall from the Bathroom and Laundry.  There is a large closet with bypass doors, again made of four panel solid pine.

The Attic access is above the closet.  The attic is even bigger than the Bonus Room, with an enormous amount of storage space. The roof inslulation above this part of the house is blown expansion foam making the attic very clean.  All the closets have coat rods in place.

All the bedrooms are wired for phone, cat5 ethernet and coax all connected to the structural distribution panel in the garage and above the office desk.  There is a blank plate for a volume control and 14/4 monster cable speaker wire is pulled to the downstairs office area.  From the volume control location two separate  14 gauge monster cable speaker wires are in place for in-ceiling speakers.

This is the Master Bedroom  from the Hall entry. The room sits on the southeast corner of the second floor and has windows facing east, south and west.

The exterior door leads to the Master Bedroom Deck with views east to the Cimmerons and south toward Red Mountain Pass and Ouray.

The view back into the Master Bedroom from the deck.  There is cedar lap siding and the window and door trim is cedar which matches the facia.  The soffit is tongue and groove pine.  The windows are metal and wood clad and made by Semco.

This shows the northeast corner of the Master Bedroom.  The closet has bipass doors.  All the interior doors are four panel solid pine.  All drywall throught the house is 5/8 inch thick which creates a more solid feel when closing doors, moving furniture or even walking.

This is the northwest corner of the Master Bedroom.  There is a second closet with a storage area above.  The wood, cathedral ceilings create a very open space.  The door on the right leads to the Upstairs Hall, on the left is the Master Bath.

This is a close up of the southeast corner of the Master Bedroom.

This shows the door into the Master Bathroom.  The bamboo flooring stops here and slate tile begins.  Again there is a speaker volumn control blank next to the door for inceiling speakers.

The Masterbath from the Master Bedroom.

The south facing windows provides natural light, but privacy for the bathtub.  The west facing windows have a rain texture glazing for privacy.  All have sill extensions.

The Masterbath vanity cabinets are rustic hickory which match the rest of the house.  The counter is thick granite that matches the kitchen, with undermount Kohler sinks, high backsplashes, with cut outs for the electrical outlets.  The Moen faucets match the rest of the house, as do the bamboo wood style mirrors.

The Kohler tub is jetted with a roman faucet by Moen.  The slate tile floor matches the other upstairs bath.

The tub surround is of knotless redwood tongue and groove.  The skirt is easily removable for access.  The steps are of redwood as well, with removable treads for extra storage of bath items.

As with the rest of the house, the balance of space and function is perfect and the details matching.

The windows are set high for privacy, yet hold the magnificant mountain view to the south iwth lots of light.  The shower is a neo round design.

The shower has matching slate tile surround, and a wonderful neo round shape that wastes no space with extra corners. The faucet is a Moen temp regulator.

This view shows the  toilet, also by  Kohler with the Master Bedroom in the background and the bamboo slate interface.

The Masterbath is a perfect complement to the sunny high ceiling Master Bedroom, all of which are located near to the laundry, just across the hall.

Downstairs is the Kitchen with all the ingredients for wonderful hosting.  The open floor plan keeps the entire area social. The bamboo floor, with south, east and west facing windows makes the living area very light.  The house is complete and just needs a family to make it a home.
